Wet Lab / Workshop: Introduction to Canine Fitness
In this laboratory, students will learn the importance of canine fitness. We will focus on all aspects including warm up and cool down, body awareness, strengthening and conditioning exercises, and mental stamina. Just as people benefit from regular exercise to maintain health and fitness, dogs should also get regular, focused exercise to protect against injury and maintain health and mobility.
About
Brenna is a multiple disciplinary dog trainer at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center (PVWDC). She began her work training dogs in 2013 when she interned at Partner Hunde, a facility in Austria that breeds, raises, and trains service dogs. Upon returning to the United States, Brenna started as a training assistant for Main Line Deputy Dog, an organization that allows handicapped individuals to train their own service dogs. She received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from The Pennsylvania State University. Brenna began her career with the PVWDC as a college senior through the summer internship program. Following her graduation in 2018, Brenna received her Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) certification and was hired as a staff trainer by the PVWDC. Brenna plans to continue her passion of training by establishing a new standard of elite working dogs.
